What we do:
"The mission of the Northwood Education Foundation is to financially aid Northwood School District in providing a superior learning environment for the entire community."
We've done that by funding small projects such as music camp tuition and
supplies for the science classes, and large undertakings such as the baseball, softball,
and football fields.
We've gone low-tech with geology kits, then high-tech with software that helps
special education students read and with funding part of the district's
school-wide revamping of its computer system.
We've sent teachers to conferences to further develop their skills and students
to the play "The Diary of Anne Frank" after they read the book during their
study of the Holocaust.
We've funded scholarships through designated funding from the Link Family
Scholarship Fund and the I Overcame an Obstacle Scholarship Fund (Jimmy and
Leslie Liautaud).
In all, we've funded projects or programs in nearly every subject area at
Northwood School.
We've also written grants for the school and will be doing more of them to help
Northwood reach, teach, and inspire its students.
How we do it:
Through the generous donations of community members,
alumni, friends of Northwood School, area businesses, and local organizations.
Together, we've funded nearly $258,000 worth of projects that enhance learning opportunities at the school,
opportunities that otherwise would not have been possible.
